With plenty of natural resources, Jhabua has enough resources for a healthy living. Still, tribal people have to leave their land and family in search of livelihood. ‘Majdoori’ is not a problem but ‘Madoori ki Majboori’ is the problem. WHY?

Water  Crisis

In Jhabua due to undulating land and deforestation, there is high water runoff, thus water crisis. People travel as far as 5km to get drinking water

Seasonal Agriculture

With an excess of rocks and sloping terrain, the soil of Jhabua is challenging for agriculture. Further water crisis limits the cultivation period to just 4-6 months a year. Depleting Forests Resources

Tribal people being the ‘Vanvasi’ know the best way to make sustainable use of forests resources. However, the exploitation and hence depletion of forests resources which started during British still continues.

Lost traditions

The continuous hammering for 300 years pre-independence which prevailed post-independence too infiltrated tribal villagers too. Further reducing demands of traditional products aided in fading traditional knowledge.

Economic Exploitation

Every tribal family has a loan as high as 10 lakhs. The loan accumulated through generations, due to the interest rate as high as 100% and supplemented by financial illiteracy.        [/cmsmasters_featured_block][/cmsmasters_column][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/2″][cmsmasters_featured_block text_width=”100″ text_position=”center” text_padding=”300px 5px 5px 5px” text_align=”center” bg_img=”12765|http://2z1.397.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/dholak-e1544975275886-200×300.jpg|medium” bg_position=”center center” bg_repeat=”no-repeat” bg_attachment=”scroll” bg_size=”contain” top_padding=”250″ bottom_padding=”0″ animation_delay=”0″] [/cmsmasters_featured_block][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_row data_padding_bottom=”0″ data_padding_top=”0″ data_bg_color=”#f9f9f9″ data_color=”default” data_bot_style=”default” data_top_style=”default” data_no_margin=”true” data_padding_right=”0″ data_padding_left=”0″ data_width=”fullwidth”][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/2″][cmsmasters_featured_block text_width=”74″ text_position=”center” text_padding=”100px 10px 10px 10px” text_align=”right” bg_img=”12778|http://2z1.397.myftpupload.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/medi1-300×201.jpg|medium” bg_position=”center center” bg_repeat=”no-repeat” bg_attachment=”scroll” bg_size=”contain” top_padding=”350″ bottom_padding=”0″ animation_delay=”0″] [/cmsmasters_featured_block][/cmsmasters_column][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/2″][cmsmasters_featured_block text_width=”85″ text_position=”center” text_padding=”15% 10% 10% 10%” text_align=”left” fb_bg_color=”#f9f9f9″ top_padding=”0″ bottom_padding=”0″ animation_delay=”0″ classes=”cmsmasters_homepage_welcome_section”]

Lack of Basic Amenities

Lack of basic amenities like Health Clinics, Road, Banks etc in rural Jhabua makes life harder. Being an agro-based culture, there is a dire need of veterinary clinic.

Immigration

All of the above conditions multiply to force people of Jhabua, leave their villages and work in cities like Ahmedabad, Surat etc. as daily wage labourers on construction sites. Nearly half of their annual income goes as interests and a major other portion in health-related problems. Now, with raised confidence, tribal people of Jhabua are building them, their self-esteem and their life. The biggest achievement of Shivganga is the revival of the belief that they themselves can bring changes in villages and in their life.
