In the absence of proper health infrastructure and lack of trust in govt healthcare infrastructure, a vast majority of the tribal population travel to nearby cities like Dahod, Vadodara and Indore for treatment which incurs heavy expenses in treatment and logistics (food, accommodation & Travel). To meet the costs in these emergency health situations, they take a loan from the informal sector whose interest loans are as high as 150% annually. Once a family takes a loan, it gets trapped into this for generations.

Shivganga’s Efforts so far….. Swastha Jhabua

Swachha Gaon Swastha Parivar: The core objective of this initiative would be ‘आरोग्य’ through awareness and training programs. This ongoing initiative aims at creating women leaders in villages who can take responsibility for the village’s cleanliness and health. These women leaders would be equipped with knowledge of the nutritional requirements and ways to fulfil these requirements locally. They also have an understanding of common diseases and their primary cure. Under this program, community mobilization and training are conducted throughout the year.

Rogi Sahayata Kendra:

The core objective is to facilitate the patient and family. The Center would guide patients to the appropriate healthcare facility/hospital. The centre would develop a network of hospitals, diagnostic centres and doctors so that a diseased person can be directed to the proper channel. A rented facility has already been inaugurated in Jhabua City in July 2021. The Center is already receiving queries; it is onboarding doctors and guiding patients to appropriate channels.

Center’s Extension:

Shortly, the centre will house a clinic with a doctor and paramedical staff to diagnose and prescribe for basic ailments. The centre would facilitate the patient and his family to travel from their village to Indore for proper treatment in severe illness. The Center would arrange smooth logistics required for appropriate treatment, such as facilitation in the hospital, food, and accommodation with the patients.
